Renata ICP303450PA-02 Lithium polymer in space

Renata LiPo on the ISS in an "Electro Muscle Stimulation Suit".

The EasyMotionSkin® an "Electro Muscle Stimulation Suit" (EMS) of the EasyMotionSkin GmbH was successfully qualified for space by OHB System AG and its use demonstrated during the mission of ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer to the International Space Station ISS from November 2021 to Mai 2022.

The EMS System is controlled via Bluetooth by a Power Box with a Battery. The selected batteries for this challenging and great project are Renata batteries.

Thanks to their reliable operation, due to integrated safety circuit, their high cycle stability, their capacity and many other advantages, the Renata battery, ICP303450 PA-02 was selected for this demonstration in the space: ICP303450PA-02 | Renata SA

Lithium - ion batteries can handle high current loads and have become the battery of choice when the energy density is important, Due to their high energy density and low internal resistance. They offer a higher specific energy than other storage batteries and are frequently used in applications where weight and size are critical factors.

It is very important to note that the safety certification by the European Space Agency ESA for batteries is very strict.

We at Renata are very proud to have contribute to the success of this special space mission.
